With its straight-off-a-postcard beaches and clear-as-could-be seas, it’s easy to see why Mauritius is a popular spot for honeymooners. But this exotic island isn’t just for couples. With zip lines, tropical national parks and wow-factor snorkelling, there’s plenty here for all ages. In fact, Mauritius is a great choice for a fancy family holiday. Maybe you’re celebrating a big birthday, or having one last trip together before the kids fly the nest? Whatever the occasion, Long Beach Golf & Spa Resort is the place to stay. Here’s why…

    Next-level luxury

There are loads of snazzy hotels in Mauritius, but Long Beach Golf & Spa Resort tops them all. That’s why it’s part of our exclusive Premier collection. For starters, it’s on a knockout beach in the pretty village of Belle Mare – the white sands stretch for almost a kilometre. Fancy a cocktail or a bite to eat? The hotel’s waiter service on the beach means you don’t even need to move from your sun lounger. There are three pools as well – our favourite is the adults-only infinity pool overlooking the sea.
And then there’s your room. Chic is the word of the day here, with magazine-worthy décor, sleek bathrooms and a king-size bed. Gadget-addicted teens will be happy, thanks to the free Wi-Fi, iPod docks and 42-inch flatscreens. Plus, you get a terrace or a balcony thrown in – perfect for soaking up those Mauritian sunsets.

    All-day activities

If half your family want to sunbathe all day, while the rest simply can’t sit still, this is the perfect hotel for you. Long Beach Golf & Spa Resort racks up a climbing wall, a 5-a-side pitch, and courts for badminton, tennis and volleyball. Kids and teens can join in with activities and games at their age-appropriate clubs, or the whole family can take to the sea. Kayaking, canoeing and snorkelling are a great way to see tropical fish. But, if you want to get your heart racing, have a go at windsurfing, waterskiing or banana boating. Disclaimer – you will fall in. If you don’t fancy making a splash, why not tee off on a championship golf course instead? It’s owned by Long Beach’s sister hotel, Le Touessrok, so you can play for free. There’s even a complimentary shuttle bus to take you there and back #winning.

    Food, glorious, food

Is it really a holiday if you don’t come home half a stone heavier? We don’t think so. And, apparently, neither does Long Beach Golf & Spa Resort. Japanese, Italian, Chinese, seafood – you name it, they’ve got it. There are five restaurants in total, and the buffet has a whopping seven cooking stations, where you can watch the master chefs work their magic. If you can’t last until dinner, Shores Lounge Bar serves up a lip-smacking afternoon tea, while Tides Pool Bar offers homemade cake and pancakes. You wouldn’t want to starve, now, would you? There are a couple of bars, too, serving soft drinks, beer, wine and cocktails made with Mauritian rum.

    In-spa-ration

No luxury holiday would be complete without a spa sesh. The Sea Spa is tucked away in the hotel’s tropical gardens, so it really does feel like a retreat. There’s a lengthy treatment list, including seaweed body wraps and chocolate massages. Parents can enjoy a couples’ massage, or you could book a manicure to have some mother-daughter time. If you’d rather just have some peace and quiet, simply bring your book and pull up a chair in the outdoor area, overlooking the lagoon. Aaaand relax…
